Our Programs
At Carto’s Disabilities Foundation, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to live with dignity, independence, and hope.
Our mission is to remove the barriers that prevent people with disabilities from building secure, meaningful lives. We focus on practical support, access to healthcare, safe housing, skills development, and community inclusion, with special care for women and families facing poverty, homelessness, and social exclusion.
Through compassionate assistance, advocacy, and strategic partnerships, we connect people with resources, strengthen self-advocacy, and create pathways toward lasting independence in Sierra Leone, West Africa, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
We also work to ensure that support is shaped by the people and communities we serve. By listening to lived experiences, building trusted local partnerships, and measuring progress with care, we turn compassion into practical action.
Our goal is a more inclusive future where disability never limits a person’s voice, choices, or opportunity to thrive.
Restoring Mobility and Empowering Independence
01. Prosthetics and Mobility Assistance
Giving individuals the freedom to move. We facilitate access to prosthetic arms and legs, wheelchairs and mobility scooters, crutches, walkers, orthopedic braces, equipment repairs, and professional fittings and mobility assessments through partnerships with healthcare professionals and rehabilitation centers.
04. Advocacy and Community Inclusion
Every ability deserves recognition. We promote disability rights awareness, community education, accessibility advocacy, and partnerships that include persons with disabilities in education, employment, and community life.
