At Carto’s Disabilities Foundation, we believe that physical disability should never determine a person's worth, limit their dreams, or deny them the opportunity to live with dignity and independence. Founded by Carto Sesay, a person who has personally experienced the challenges of living with a physical disability caused by polio, our foundation was born from a powerful belief: Every individual deserves an opportunity to live a meaningful, independent, and fulfilling life, regardless of physical limitations or financial circumstances. Carto's personal journey, combined with the experiences of others affected by physical disabilities, inspired a commitment to turn hardship into hope and compassion into meaningful action.
Who We Are
We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people, families, and communities overcome barriers and build brighter, more independent futures. We connect individuals with practical support, essential resources, and opportunities that promote dignity, inclusion, accessibility, and well-being. We work to expand access to healthcare, rehabilitation, mobility support, safe housing, education, employment, basic necessities, and skills development. Through advocacy, outreach, and partnerships, we help people navigate challenges, strengthen their communities, and achieve greater stability and independence.
